Carolyn O'Barr

Carolyn is a freelance graphic artist. Also, for more than ten years she has been teaching media arts and technology, especially Apple and Adobe software programs, at various colleges and universities around San Diego County. She is an Apple Certified Professional and loves to show students how to use Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack, DVD Studio and other Apple applications. She likes to get students excited about a variety of Adobe programs including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Flash and Dreamweaver. Carolyn is proficient on both Macs and PCs. She is very good at taking complex topics and explaining them in a clear and concise way that is easy to understand. These skills are reflected in her well structured curriculum development. Carolyn is responsible for nurturing many students who have become award winners and successful professionals.

Prior to becoming a teacher, Carolyn worked in retail for twenty years. She was a mid-level manager at supermarkets in many diverse areas of San Diego County, both small and large stores up to 60,000 square feet. She was responsible for training, supervising and scheduling employees, and overlooking the computer inventory, pricing, ordering and stocking of merchandise. Carolyn has an extensive background of successful customer service and interaction with the public. She is especially tactful, patient and courteous when working with people at different stations in life and various cultural backgrounds.

Carolyn is a judge at the San Diego County Fair Student Showcase, she is a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals and the International Media Communications Association.

Carolyn has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from San Diego State University.
